Baseball Recap: American Fork Takes Down Ranked Pleasant Grove

American Fork faced Pleasant Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cavemen were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Cavemen have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tege Kelley looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, American Fork got a massive performance out of Beckett Hardman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Hardman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Gardner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

American Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Grove only posted a batting average of .250.

The victory made it two in a row for American Fork and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.
