Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. School Without Walls Penguins
Roosevelt has been on the road for nine straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the School Without Walls Penguins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Roosevelt faced Ballou in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt came out on top against Ballou by a score of 69-58.
Roosevelt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Hudgens, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamall Price, Jr., who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, School Without Walls came up short against Parkside on Monday and fell 73-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (59), School Without Walls still had to take the loss.
Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for School Without Walls, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Roosevelt took their victory against School Without Walls in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 73-50. With Roosevelt ahead 38-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
