Baseball Game Preview: Vandalia Vandals vs. Pana Panthers

For the second straight game, Vandalia will face off against Pana. The Vandals will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Vandalia has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Pana will come in with three straight victories.

Vandalia came up short against Pana on Monday, falling 11-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vandals have suffered against the Panthers since April 12, 2019.

For Pana's part, the team relied heavily on Madyx Angel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those four hits gave Angel a new career-high. Easton Malisia was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

Pana pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Vandalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
