Soccer Game Preview: Philip Simmons vs. Goose Creek

The Philip Simmons Iron Horses are taking a road trip to take on the Goose Creek Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Philip Simmons has three straight victories, Goose Creek has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Last Friday, Philip Simmons was able to grind out a solid win over Cane Bay, taking the game 3-1.

Meanwhile, Goose Creek's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They came up short against Stratford, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, Goose Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Stratford are ranked 32nd).

Philip Simmons pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those six matchups. As for Goose Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Philip Simmons took their victory against Goose Creek in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Iron Horses since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
