Volleyball Recap: Soldotna Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Chugiak

Soldotna faced Chugiak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Stars fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 1-0. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Soldotna was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by exactly two points. The final score came out to 25-23.

Chugiak found their leader in sophomore London Gentile, who had four digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Gentile.

Soldotna now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Chugiak, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Soldotna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Colony on the 23rd. As for Chugiak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Lathrop on the 23rd.
