Baseball Game Preview: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils vs. Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls

The Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Thursday, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy came up short against La Salle College and fell 5-2.

Paul Cifra was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Archbishop Ryan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic 8-7.

Dave Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Perez was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victor Corniel, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Flash Krzywicki was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Archbishop Ryan's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
