Baseball Recap: Etna Continues Home Dominance on Friday

It's playoff time, and Etna had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Trinity Wolves on Friday. Considering the Lions have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyle Fowle made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Fowle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Emmitt Griggs was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clayton Harris, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Etna hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.

Etna's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Trinity, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Etna will welcome Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
