Preview: St. Francis Knights vs. Trion Bulldogs

The St. Francis Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Trion Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Francis has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Trion will arrive with ten straight victories.

Last Friday, St. Francis had to suffer through a rough 57-26 loss at the hands of Mount Vernon.

Meanwhile, Trion can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Darlington 42-14 at home.

Toby Maddux continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 261 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 54 receiving yards. Maddux was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Smith, who threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

St. Francis bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Providence Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Trion, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

St. Francis strolled past Trion when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 34-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
