Baseball Recap: Lancaster Comes Up Short

Lancaster had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-13 to make it five. They lost 14-4 to the Highland Bulldogs. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

As for Highland, their record now sits at 15-9-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Highland's part, Landon Manzano spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Hudson Harding was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nick Gonzales was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Lancaster will face off against Knight at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Highland, they will challenge Palmdale at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
