Preview: Millville Thunderbolts vs. Bridgeton Bulldogs
Millville is 8-2 against Bridgeton since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Millville Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Bridgeton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Millville has now lost eight straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since January 24.
Last Wednesday, Millville was the victim of a tough 70-44 loss at the hands of Lower Cape May. While losing is never fun, Millville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Lower Cape May is ranked 105th).
Meanwhile, Bridgeton pushed their score all the way to 76 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 88-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salem. Bridgeton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Jameel Purnell, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. Richard Mills was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Millville has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. Bridgeton's record now sits at 10-13.
Millville took their victory against Bridgeton when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 68-45. Will Millville repeat their success, or does Bridgeton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
