Skutt Catholic is a perfect 5-0 against Pius X since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The SkyHawks will host the Thunderbolts at 7:00 p.m. Skutt Catholic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Skutt Catholic is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Elkhorn: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the SkyHawks blew the Antlers out of the water with a 42-8 final score. The result was nothing new for the SkyHawks, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skutt Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brenden Ruth, who rushed for 83 yards on only 11 carries, and also caught one score. Those 83 rushing yards gave Ruth a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Conor Mogensen, who threw for 161 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skutt Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pius X was beaten by Norris 38-7 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Titans are ranked 19th).
Even if they lost, Pius X's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zeke Mullendore, Marcus Roberts, and Anthony Iburg, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Skutt Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pius X, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Skutt Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pius X, though, as they've been averaging only 21 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Skutt Catholic against Pius X in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-14 win. Will the SkyHawks repeat their success, or do the Thunderbolts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
