Softball Recap: Elmira Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Elmira had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marshfield Pirates. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Emily Weston and Layla Burgess stepped up to the plate in a big way. Weston scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4, while Burgess scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Shiloh Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmira will welcome Amity at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marshfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glide at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
