Baseball Recap: Martin County Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Martin County's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Betsy Layne Bobcats as they made off with a 19-10 win. Considering the Cardinals have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Crayson Lafferty was incredible, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Martin County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Moore, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Martin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. Coming up, Martin County will venture away from home to take on Paintsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Betsy Layne, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-0 loss against East Carter on the 12th.
