Basketball Recap: Earlville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Earlville and Putnam County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Earlville had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Putnam County Panthers by a score of 47-44. The Red Raiders just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addie Scherer, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bailey Miller, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Earlville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive contests.

Earlville's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Putnam County, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-23.

Earlville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Putnam County, they will take on Amboy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amboy will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Putnam County surely won't give up without a fight.
