Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Cherokee County

Cherokee County not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th (when they won 11-1). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cleburne County Tigers an 8-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 back in March.

Emma Hill made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Bruce, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Myleigh Bobbitt also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Cherokee County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cherokee County and bumps their season record up to 14-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Cleburne County, they moved to 11-16 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cherokee County will face off against White Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cleburne County, they will challenge Winterboro at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.88 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
