Basketball Recap: Harding County Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Harding County Ranchers ended up a good deal behind the Sundance Bulldogs and lost 59-45.

Despite the loss, Harding County still got an impressive performance from Cohen Smith, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Meyer, who posted four points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Harding County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Harding County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sundance, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harding County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Philip at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Sundance will take on Newcastle in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sundance knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Newcastle likes a good challenge.
