Basketball Recap: Gates County Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington County, Gates County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They managed a 59-53 win over the North East Carolina Prep Husky. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-47 two weeks ago.

Chadwick Barnes and Christian Garrett certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Barnes dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Garrett dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. Barnes is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jayden King was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven boards and three steals.

Gates County's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for North East Carolina Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Gates County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North East Carolina Prep, they have already played their next game, a 69-49 loss against Washington County on the 12th.
