Basketball Recap: Umatilla Takes a Loss

Umatilla lost against Mount Dora Christian Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Umatilla Bulldogs came up short against the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs, falling 52-31. While losing is never fun, Umatilla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Mount Dora Christian Academy is ranked 101st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Dora Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cassi Monn, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points Monn has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastacia Purdy, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 15 points.

Umatilla's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Umatilla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-15 loss against Wekiva on the 9th. Mount Dora Christian Academy has also already played their next contest, a 54-37 defeat against The Villages Charter on the 9th.
