Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Beckville

Beckville came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets 54-38. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 996th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Elysian Fields still got an impressive performance from Brandon Kennedy, who posted 18 points. Kennedy's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Colby Stephens was another key player, putting up nine points.

Beckville pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Elysian Fields, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Beckville Bearcats face off against the Tenaha Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tenaha's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Elysian Fields, they will venture away from home to square off against Garrison at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Elysian Fields is facing Garrison at the right time seeing as Garrison is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
