Softball Recap: Mariner Wins Going Away Against Island Coast

Mariner never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Island Coast Gators as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tritons, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooke Parramore made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabi Winters, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alaina Shugars, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Mariner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Mariner and bumps their season record up to 10-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Island Coast, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coming up, Mariner will head out to face off against Cape Coral at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Tritons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Island Coast, they will square off against Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.92 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
