Recap: Onaga Buffaloes vs. Hanover Wildcats

The Onaga Buffaloes lost against the Hanover Wildcats back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Onaga falling 55-39. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Hanover is ranked 60th).

Despite the loss, Onaga saw an underclassman step up: Jadyn Haskin scored 17 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Haskin scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Bridgett Campbell, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Onaga smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Onaga and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Hanover, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Onaga's road trip will continue as they head out to face Blue Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Hanover, they will square off against Frankfort at TBD on Wednesday. Frankfort will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
