Football Recap: Hartfield Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Madison-Ridgeland Academy

Hartfield Academy faced Madison-Ridgeland Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hawks were dealt a 49-21 loss at the hands of the Patriots. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Hartfield Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Elliott, who rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and Collin McIntyre, who rushed for 68 yards.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy found their leader in sophomore Colson O'Cain, who rushed for 146 yards and five TDs while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Jenkins, who rushed for 133 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Hartfield Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartfield Academy will take on Pillow Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they will face off against Collierville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 930 yards in their previous games.
