Softball Recap: Bradley-Bourbonnais Takes a Loss

Bradley-Bourbonnais and Lincoln-Way West pushed the score to 17-9 the last time they played Lincoln-Way West, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Boilermakers fell 3-0 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Boilermakers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lydia Hammond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bradley-Bourbonnais saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shannon Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Bradley-Bourbonnais' defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lincoln-Way West, their record now sits at 17-9.

Bradley-Bourbonnais and Lincoln-Way West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Boilermakers will challenge Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (29 vs. 173). Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West (ranked 19th) will meet Naperville Central (ranked 109th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
