Recap: Gallia Academy Blue Devils vs. Portsmouth Trojans
The Gallia Academy Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Portsmouth at home by a decisive 65-47 margin. While losing is never fun, Gallia Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Portsmouth is ranked 16th).
DeAndre Berry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Portsmouth, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Berry has scored at least 25% of Portsmouth's points. Another player making a difference was Donnovan Breech, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Gallia Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 18-7 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Portsmouth, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gallia Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Point Pleasant at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th. Portsmouth will be home for the holidays to greet Dawson-Bryant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson-Bryant has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three matches.
