Basketball Recap: Washington County Comes Up Short

If Washington County was feeling good fresh off their 66-42 takedown of Dodge County last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Washington County Golden Hawks took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dodge County Indians. The Golden Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 66-42.

Despite the loss, Washington County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jade Kitchens went 9-for-21 on her way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Kitchens continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Aeria Hagans was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Dodge County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-11.

Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dodge County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Laurens at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
