Volleyball Recap: Jenna Annoye and Danica Bartels Secure Win for Luxemburg-Casco

There's no place like home for Luxemburg-Casco, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Freedom Irish by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won three in a row.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-17, 26-28, 26-24.

Leading Luxemburg-Casco to victory were Danica Bartels and Jenna Annoye. Bartels had 14 digs and two assists, while Annoye had ten digs. Those 14 digs gave Bartels a new career-high.

Several Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilli Big Eagle, who had 42 assists and ten digs. Big Eagle has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 13 times she's played. Halle Srb also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Luxemburg-Casco's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Freedom, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-9.

Looking ahead, Luxemburg-Casco will square off against Little Chute at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freedom, they will challenge Marinette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish are facing the Marines at the right time seeing as the Marines are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
