Football Recap: Burlington Starts off Right with Win over Platte Valley + How To Watch

Burlington had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Platte Valley Broncos 30-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Jason Saucedo went supernova, rushing for 239 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Those 239 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Burlington's run defense was locked in: Platte Valley could only muster three yards per carry. While four picked up at least two total tackles, Saucedo stood above the rest. He rushed for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Burlington didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

Platte Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaden Tucker, who picked up 52 receiving yards and three scores, and Regan Edstrom, who threw for 132 yards and three TDs.

Burlington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakin at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Platte Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 34-7 loss against Strasburg on the 29th.
