Football Recap: Burlington Starts Season with Win Against Platte Valley + How To Watch

Burlington had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Platte Valley Broncos 30-28. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jason Saucedo was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Those 239 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Burlington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Valley only rushed for 63 rushing yards.

Platte Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Kaden Tucker and Regan Edstrom. Tucker picked up 52 receiving yards and three TDs, while Edstrom threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

Burlington will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakin at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Platte Valley, they will head out to face off against Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
