Softball Recap: Culpeper County Comes Up Short

Culpeper County dropped their record down to 6-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-0 to the Caroline Cavaliers. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Caroline, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

For Caroline's part, Alyssa Bray was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Bray a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Culpeper County will square off against Chancellor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Caroline, they will face off against Eastern View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cyclones have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
