Softball Recap: Pine Tree Drops Season-High Score on Spring Hill

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pine Tree). Everything went their way against the Spring Hill Panthers on Monday as the Pine Tree Pirates made off with a 14-2 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Nia Woodson and Rhi Black did most of the damage at the plate: Woodson fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4, while Black fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Woodson a new career-high in runs (two). Laykin Elliott was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Pine Tree lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Pine Tree picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-10-1. As for Spring Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Tree will square off against Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Spring Hill, they will face off against Gilmer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
