Football Recap: Ashbrook Starts off Right with Win over West Mecklenburg + How To Watch

Ashbrook gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the West Mecklenburg Hawks to the tune of 35-8. That's more bragging rights for the Greenwave, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ashbrook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aj McClain, who rushed for 71 yards and one score, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of TDs. McClain got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 64 yards. Savion Lindsay was another key rusher, gaining 107 total yards and a touchdown.

Ashbrook didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bishop Woods, Keenan Early, and Cayden Montgomery Ross picked up one apiece. Woods has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times he's played. Montgomery Ross got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, Ashbrook will head out on the road to challenge Berry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Mecklenburg, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Statesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
