Basketball Recap: Braddock Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Braddock unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Sarasota Sailors and fell 90-61. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Sailors are ranked 47th).

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luca De La Paz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Ray Estay was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 15 points.

Braddock's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Sarasota, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

When Braddock and Sarasota next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Braddock will challenge Olympic Heights and their four-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Braddock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Sarasota will try to stop Barron Collier's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday.
