Basketball Recap: Miami Valley Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Miami Valley Christian Academy was the 61-50 winner over St. Bernard-Elmwood Place when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions fell 58-51 to the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Titans are ranked 661st).

Despite the loss, Miami Valley Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Gavin French, who posted 15 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds French has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jude Rosen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Miami Valley Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

With the loss, Miami Valley Christian Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3. As for St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Miami Valley Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 78-56 victory against Mariemont on the 1st. As for St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-33 win against New Miami on the 31st.
