Baseball Recap: Shanksville Stonycreek Extends Winning Streak to Three

Shanksville Stonycreek waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Forbes Road. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-3 last Friday.

Matt Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Shanksville Stonycreek got a massive performance out of Hunter Critchfield, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Critchfield has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jack Carter was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Shanksville Stonycreek now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Forbes Road, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shanksville Stonycreek will head out to take on Blacklick Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Blacklick Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Forbes Road, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hancock at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
