Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

Hillcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 36-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fountain Inn Fury. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-23 last Friday.

Fountain Inn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniya Brown, who posted eight points along with six boards and four steals. Chaniya Jackson was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Fountain Inn, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will welcome J.L. Mann at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. J.L. Mann knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Hillcrest likes a good challenge. As for Fountain Inn, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m.
