Softball Recap: Highland Beats London for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Highland extended their postseason success on Thursday against London. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Red Raiders. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Scots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Lydia Shaffer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Highland got a massive performance out of Saylor Squires, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Squires has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Romshak, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 11-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Highland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for London, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-8.

Coming up, Highland will venture away from home to square off against Licking Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Fighting Scots surely won't give up without a fight. London does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
