Baseball Recap: Hammond Central Wolves vs. East Chicago Central Cardinals
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hammond Central). They put the hurt on the East Chicago Central Cardinals with a sharp 17-4 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Juan Magallanes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Magallanes was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Jansel Savinon was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Christopher Buckley also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
