Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maplewood). They walked away with a 60-48 win over the Badger Braves on Friday. This was payback for the Rockets, who suffered a 49-39 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maplewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Steve Manes, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points and six boards. That's the most points Manes has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Kern, who shot 46% from the field en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.
Maplewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Defeat or not, Badger got some senior leadership from Tyler McWilliams and Lewis Flowers. McWilliams put up 13 points and eight boards, while Flowers earned eight points and five steals. Flowers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
The victory got Maplewood back to even at 2-2. As for Badger, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
