Inter-City Baptist hasn't had much luck against Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Inter-City Baptist has three straight wins, Lutheran has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Inter-City Baptist came out on top against Southfield Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run sixth inning. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Chargers have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Andrew Stolman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Easton Anthony was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Whitmore Lake hit Lutheran with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-1 to the Trojans.
Lutheran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Baltz, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Inter-City Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Inter-City Baptist has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Inter-City Baptist suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Lutheran in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
