Baseball Recap: Pine Grove Beats Blue Mountain for Their Third Straight Victory

Pine Grove waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Blue Mountain Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Eagles back in April, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Quinn Brommer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pine Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Hatter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Hatter is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

The victory got Pine Grove back to even at 9-9. As for Blue Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Coming up, Pine Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Panther Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Blue Mountain, they will take on Shenandoah Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
