Baseball Game Preview: South East Jaguars vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders

For the second straight game, South East will face off against Roosevelt. The Jaguars will face off against the Rough Riders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

South East took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Roosevelt a 3-0 shutout.

Jayden Cortez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Cortez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Santos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Santos has posted since back in March. Nathan Munoz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

South East is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.
