Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Clay Eagles
The Springfield Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Clay Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-38, which was the final score in Springfield's tilt against Findlay on Thursday. Springfield has struggled against Findlay recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Springfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Drew Martin, who scored seven points, and Kai Taylor who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Clay pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Whitmer 90-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (58), Clay still had to take the loss.
Springfield bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
