Soccer Game Preview: Garner vs. Cleveland

Garner hasn't had much luck against Cleveland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Garner will be strutting in after a victory while Cleveland will be coming in after a defeat.

Garner took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Clayton a 5-0 shutout. Garner better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Lily Ridge, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Meanwhile, Cleveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Corinth Holders. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Cleveland couldn't quite close it out.

Garner has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four contests. As for Cleveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Garner suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Cleveland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
