Baseball Recap: Tarpon Springs Triumphs

Tarpon Springs saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They skirted past the Hernando Leopards 5-4. That's two games straight that the Spongers have won by just one run.

Danny Scott tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Tarpon Springs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Rogers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Rogers a new career-high. Andres Rodriguez was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Tarpon Springs and bumps their season record up to 9-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hernando, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Coming up, Tarpon Springs will challenge Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hernando, they will face off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Hernando's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
