Baseball Game Preview: Dimmitt Bobcats vs. Littlefield Wildcats

Dimmitt is 1-6 against Littlefield since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Dimmitt Bobcats challenge Littlefield Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Dimmitt is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Muleshoe. Bobcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mules since on Saturday.

Ga'Quorie Chatham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Dimmitt's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Uriel Prieto, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Dimmitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Meanwhile, Littlefield entered their tilt with Slaton on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Tigers 16-5. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Littlefield's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dimmitt, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Dimmitt suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Littlefield in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Dimmitt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
