Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Mariners vs. Brookfield Academy Blue Knights

St. Francis is 2-8 against Brookfield Academy since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The St. Francis Mariners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Brookfield Academy Blue Knights at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, St. Francis made easy work of Kenosha Christian Life and carried off an 88-62 victory. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Green, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 19 points along with seven assists and seven boards. Green also grabbed six steals, which is notable because St. Francis is 7-2 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-9 otherwise. Cameron Nerby was another key player, going 8-for-14 en route to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Brookfield Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took an 80-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waukesha North on Tuesday.

Brookfield Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
