Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Monterey

Monterey had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hollister Haybalers as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Toreadors were shut out 5-0 the last time they took on the Haybalers, so the Toreadors were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Johnny Money, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Hollister off the board. Money also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monterey is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyson Beyah, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Hollister, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Haybalers beat Monterey by a score of 8-4 on Wednesday.
