Basketball Recap: Fowler Piles Up the Points Against Walsenburg

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fowler's strategy against Walsenburg on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Fowler Grizzlies blew the Walsenburg Panthers out of the water with a 56-21 final score. With the Grizzlies ahead 34-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Fowler was led to victory by Isaiah Montoya and Cael True. Montoya went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points and three steals, while True almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Those three steals gave Montoya a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bruley McCuistion, who posted six points.

Fowler was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walsenburg only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Walsenburg had strong showings from Adrian Vallejos, who scored eight points in addition to six boards and four steals, and Logan Tenorio, who put up three points and 15 rebounds. Tenorio has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 12 times he's played.

Fowler has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Walsenburg, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
