Recap: Wayne Christian Eagles vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles
The Wayne Christian Eagles and the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wayne Christian Eagles had to settle for second. They fell to the Eagles 38-32. Wayne Christian's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Wayne Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shiquan Ethridge, who picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ethridge was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Peck, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rocky Mount Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marti Mcknight, who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wright, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Rocky Mount Academy's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Wyatt Wells was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Wayne Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Rocky Mount Academy, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Wayne Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rocky Mount Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
