Basketball Game Preview: DuSable Panthers vs. Excel Academy of South Shore Broncos

The DuSable Panthers will challenge the Excel Academy of South Shore Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DuSable will be strutting in after a victory while Excel Academy of South Shore will be coming in after a loss.

DuSable will head into Thursday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Excel Academy of Englewood on Thursday. DuSable took their game with ease, bagging a 61-34 win over Excel Academy of Englewood. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DuSable to victory, but perhaps none more so than Patrick Malone, who posted 17 points. The contest was Malone's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ave'Veyon Watkins, who put up 15 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Excel Academy of South Shore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 55-48 to Universal.

The victory got DuSable back to even at 7-7. As for Excel Academy of South Shore, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

DuSable couldn't quite finish off Excel Academy of South Shore in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 55-53. Thankfully for DuSable, Kenard Mason (who went 9 of 13 on his way to 27 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
